How thin has too thin become?

On Monday evening, Anna Wintour amongst a number of designers met to discuss the extreme thinness of today's catwalk models, stating that the majority of designs are designed in mind for this extreme thinness and 'barely fit 13 year olds'. But where has this levels of extreme thinness come from, and why do we think that this unhealthy ideal is acceptable?

It seems that Ms. Wintour has sat back and allowed this to happen under her nose - and it is documented on the film 'The September Issue' in which it is suggested that the photographer featured in a photograph needs a little digital nip/tuck. Saturated with stick thin girls Vogue is one of the main culprits. Does the fashion industry now know no better? A worrying thought...
