Kova & T come over all striped...

In black and cream silk with three layers of ruffles, it is absolutely stunning. The perfect addition to your summer wardrobe. The miniest of mini dresses, essence of monochrome, and ruffles what more could a girl want from a summer dress? Wear with gladiator sandals, ballet pumps, sky scraper heels or something chunky either way the dress will compliment your legs instantly. Add a splash of colour with a belt round the waist or layer up the jewellery...

The Python Boot...

After insanely drooling over them on the catwalk at the Versace show at fashion week, they can now be yours. Strange but irresistible, sort of like a guilty pleasure in a way that they seem so wrong they're so right. Maybe its the soft hues of peach, pink and tan? Maybe its the delicacy but the harshness of them? Whatever it is, they're actually quite nice. Will they just sit in your wardrobe because you're not brave enough to wear? Maybe. But at least they'll be there for peering eyes to glance upon...

Peter Pilotto...

His printed sculptured dress is everything you need from a sexy, structured summer dress. The stunning abstract sunset print which will only be first noticed on attention to detail is perfect for summer cocktails or that special summer event you have to attend. At £900 it's practically a steal - a key bold print piece for SS10. Wear with chunky black Miu Miu shoes to create a chic city look or keep things simple and let the dress do the talking with nude heels which will also elongate your legs. Absolutely stunning...

Welcome back...

According to reports, skin and bone is out and curves are in. Girls across the globe breathe a sigh of relief. The thin ideal had gone a number of steps too far, and models across the catwalks from SS10 were seen looking gaunt and basically under nourished. But the change all lies with the recent meeting Ms. Wintour attended and a recent push from Mr. Jacobs - welcome back curves for AW10 shows.

Recent pictures show that although the models are hardly curvy it is definitely a move in the right direction for the fashion industry. Welcome back the super model, the figure (which is the important word here) that we can all achieve without starvation and cabbage soup diets.

A new face at Rimmel...

And one that doesn't fit too well. Their latest ad campaign sees Georgia May Jagger take lead role. But manage to make their signature line seem overly forced and uncomfortable. Her pale skin I get, the blond hair I get,the bright red lips I get but the genetic overly large mouth I don't get. Her mouth but not the lipstick becomes the focal point of the advert.

How thin has too thin become?

On Monday evening, Anna Wintour amongst a number of designers met to discuss the extreme thinness of today's catwalk models, stating that the majority of designs are designed in mind for this extreme thinness and 'barely fit 13 year olds'. But where has this levels of extreme thinness come from, and why do we think that this unhealthy ideal is acceptable?

It seems that Ms. Wintour has sat back and allowed this to happen under her nose - and it is documented on the film 'The September Issue' in which it is suggested that the photographer featured in a photograph needs a little digital nip/tuck. Saturated with stick thin girls Vogue is one of the main culprits. Does the fashion industry now know no better? A worrying thought...

Double Denim? No No!

Since when has double denim ever been attractive? Surely it's a farmers only zone. Denim shirt, denim jeans and wheat spikes just seem to come as a package so I dare not attempt swanning round the city streets imitating farmer Joe. Just because Alexa Chung is engrossed in the trend does not make it acceptable!

All Hands on Versace...

After the stunning collection hit the runway at Fashion Week, today it becomes available on net-a-porter for all to snap up. Figure hugging dresses, stunning colours, leather jackets and beautiful mini-skirts are what we all want to be swanning around in this summer.

Guest Editor...Naomi Campbell

Russian Vogue has revealed that the supermodel will have an entire issue dedicated to her. According to sources she has been extremely hands on in the editing process. Editor Aliona Doletskaya said;

"I wanted to debunk a few myths surrounding Naomi. When I suggested the concept, she immediately came and for an hour and a half laid out stories, photography, interviews and other sections. Clearly, quickly, and in a businesslike manner."

Miu Miu does chunky...

From their gorgeous bags, show full of legs now to gorgeous bang on trend chunky heels. Gorgeous glitter, beautiful black satin, navy blue flower print and sweet swallow print. They're a must for your collection. Wear the black pair with pretty dresses and keep things pretty, keep the print pairs for plain dresses but keep the outfit just as pretty.

Keira Knightley...

Stepping out onto the red carpet at the Lawrence Olivier awards looking absolutely stunning in a floor length Erdem (next season!) gown splattered in colours of rust and teal. She looked every inch the starlett with her simple but pretty updo and light touches of makeup...

Welcome to the 21st Century...

Finally, Selfridges have launched their online store. The site stocks everything that you could wish for to spend a lovely hour doing some online shopping. It's about time they pulled their socks up and joined the rest of us indulging in the wonders of modern technology.

J Crew hints at Louboutin...

The Obama girls favourite has hinted that they would love to collaborate with Mr Louboutin himself. Speaking about the idea, Jenna Lyons said that for their women's wear line they would love to team up with Christian Louboutin. Could Louboutin be added to the string of in house collaborations?

City Chic...

You may well not be aimlessly wandering the streets of New York, but there's nothing wrong with a little pretence. And you can pretend extremely well in a gorgeous pair of chino trousers, so versatile and suitable for absolutely anything. Wear with stripes for a Parisian feel or keep things simple and wear with a white t-shirt and layer up the bright, chunky accessories.

Lingerie Dressing...

So the trend of underwear as outerwear is still very much around, and I love the delicate slips and nighties that Topshop have. They're exactly what this trend is about, delicacy, pretty lace and simple colours - nothing too heavily printed.

Lara Stone for Prada...

From backstage at the shows last year to the face of the new fragrance. Although she seems hot property at the moment after Chanel and Givenchy featured her in the shows in Paris, I just don't see the attraction. I think she looks harsh and very similar to Ms Moss...Designers are fighting over her to be the face of their products but give me Rosie Huntington Whitley any day!

Monday 15 March 2010

Tommy Hilfiger. Sold! To Phillips Van Heusen...

For $3 billion! An absolutely unbelievable amount of money! Although sold, Mr Hilfiger himself has said he will remain an active part of the fashion house remaining as principal designer...

Million Dollar Dress...

Jad Ghandour and DanashaLuxury have designed a breathtaking $1.5 million dollar dress. The iconic dress is to be unveiled at Miami Fashion Week later this week by a celebrity model - who hasn't been named just yet. Delicate silver fabric, and handset diamonds in 18 karat gold...

The sketch from the designers proves that the dress looks every inch worth $1.5 million, now the attention will be turned to Miami Fashion Week to see which celebrity model is worth this design...

A face like Gisele?

Well, not really. But you can pretend with her range of skincare products. Seeja is completely natural and uses coconut oil as a preservative. It can only do more good than harm, even if it doesn't make me look like Gisele, I'll settle for using her products and living in hope...

A girl can dream...

Tea Party...

The recent release of Alice in Wonderland has had the high street go all girly with beautiful, elegant tea dresses.

This beautiful tea dress from Topshop for £45 is as pretty as they come. In a gorgeous pastel peach shade with sewn embellishment around the neck and pretty capped sleeves, it is a must for any tea party you're attending. Wear the dress with pretty tights and flats for the perfect 'tea party' feel.

River Island have a gorgeous navy blue tea dress with a frill neckline and white sewn embellishment - perfect if you think that this style of dress is a little too girly for you, but perfect if you love how girly this dress is. Wear with different accessories to tone down or play up to the sweetness of it.

Any dress with a demure, not too revealing, pretty feel to it will be a perfect tea dress. Perfect for spring days, summer weddings or mid evening strolls around the park.

Matthew Williamson for Bulgari

The British designer has been asked by the Italian jewellery company to design a range of handbags, which will be revealed during September Milan fashion week. Taken on board because of his 'great sense of colour'.

Sleek Shapes at YSL...

The majority of the collection was beautiful. Mass volumes of black in sleep shapes, belted jackets, straight line jumpsuits worn with electric blue heels. Then the collection moved into texture, a turquoise silk dress worn with a cape, a purple silk shift worn with elegant long gloves.

My favourites were the stunning black and purple ruffled jacket, nipped in at the waist with a bow, worn with sheer trousers. Elegant but playful springs to mind. Another gorgeous textured half cape in what can only be described as an 'off yellow' worn with matching shift dress. A chiffon topped dress, with yet again, a gorgeous textured bottom half which looks as delicate as tissue paper. A black lined plastic jacket, trimmed with black and green fur with sleeves like wings. An absolutely stunning collection - minus one or two pieces. Which has set the standard for Autumn/Winter wear.

Lots of texture with dashings of colour, belted waists, gigantic hats, capes, funnel shaped cover-ups and long chains. Beautiful...

A swift movement from short shorts....

From endless legs for Spring/Summer to early 60's glamour for Autumn/Winter. Valli's latest collection included a combination of textures making for an absolutely stunning collection. From tulle to feathers and fur. Even the set of the show was decorated in beautiful, delicate tulle. He played with floor length chiffon gowns adding a tuxedo jacket on top. A stunning black and tan shift dress with a beautifully contrasting orange trim. A beautiful beaded skirt, frills and bows galore. A 'fuzzy' camel coloured jacket worn with an equally textured crinkle miniskirt.

But my favourites were the ruffle textured skirt worn with a simple grey knit top, the gorgeous 'tea stained' chiffon dress, and the incredibly simple yet stunning black swing jersey dress. Valli maintained the idea of glamour, and if the rest of the world is dreary look to Giambattista Valli for inspiration and become a Glamba girl...

Hair yesterday, perfume tomorrow...

Her character Rachel Green got everybody going crazy over her lovely locks. "I'll have the Rachel" was a popular phrase all over hair salons during the 90's. But not she's set to turn her attention to creating her own signature scent. Joining fellow celebrities such as Sarah Jessica Parker, Britney Spears and Jennifer Lopez. Will there be as much of a craze over her perfume as there was with her hair?

Miu Miu...

Starting with stunning black designs, a beautiful structured dress which revealed a little skin and a high collar pussy-bow structured pinafore with gorgeous flower embellishment on the trim. The black outfits had a real sense of importance, yet whilst doing this they were playful, with terrific tailoring with quirky trims and beautiful embellishment. While maintaining that sense of importance with the sleek shapes the collection was also very girly...

A favourite for me, was the yellow dress with flower applique detail worn with a bow round the models neck. The colour is so prominent and the shape is elegant yet playful with the hemline. The same style dress in a beautiful purple was also a highlight. Darling mini-skirts worn with simple ribbed knits was all that was needed. The skirt, with the same playful hem line was what all eyes were focused on.

The collection was absolutely breathtaking, the colours, the shapes, the playfulness. Exactly what was needed for Autumn/Winter 2010, some colour, some fun, glorious texture and movement in our clothes...

Louis Vuitton...

Extremely dull. With the below the knee length that covered the whole of the line, the sickly pastel florals mixed with black. The finale dresses which looked like they were made out of my nan's bedroom curtains. What happened to this collection? There is not a thing worth drooling over, the fabrics were dull, the shapes were dull, the colours were dull and repulsive, even the shoes on the models were dull. So boring, dull and middle aged. Chloe done mature without looking mumsy but it seems Louis Vuitton managed to create a line with Kate Winslet in mind...No thank you!

The only thing that was worth getting excited over was Elle Macpherson taking to the stage in the finale, joined by fellow Australian beauty Catherine McNeil...

Chloe...

The girl next door grown up. As the designs hit the runway in Paris, the audience watched a flurry of 'all grown up' girls walk dressed to kill in blouses with pussy-bow collars and wide legged trousers. Not only were the styles oh so mature, but the colours were too...Sandy brown and camel infused with a little beige, and black and grey. My favourite was the high neck coat with the contrasting frill - I do have a little thing for coats. But the collection was wonderfully mature and modest whilst managing to be right on trend, not too mumsy, not too masculine. What was a little confusing, was the oh so wrong, yet oh so right leather tracksuit. I suppose, if you're going to wear a tracksuit of any kind, it should be the Chloe kind...

Chanel goes icy...

Spectators looked on as the set for Chanel's Fall/Winter 2010 at the Grand Palais was revealed. The walls were lifted to reveal 35 different shaped icebergs which over time slowly melted leaving the models treading on water as they sashayed down the catwalk. Gorgeous tweed edged with fax fur, worn with faux fur skirts and knee high yeti-boots. Full faux fur coat imitating a yeti suit. Tweet coats edged with fur, black dresses and leather and typical black and white tweed Chanel suits. The show then moved to show the stunning white collection showing gorgeous decadent mohair dresses, teared dresses with icicles hanging from the hem, clear gem jewels and the most spectacular lace and embellished dress finished with a band of faux fur. An absolutely spectacular collection that could bring a tear to even the coldest eyes. Karl Lagerfield is a genius. As he said;

"you can not fake chic but you can be chic in fake fur..."

Lindsay Lohan...

It was announced yesterday that her and designer Emanuel Ungaro would be going their separate ways. After making front row appearances at Chanel, Dior and Victor & Rolf, it was noted she was absent from the Unagro show while Estrella Archs took her bow alone. Reports later emerged that the two were going their separate ways. Who is Lindsay Lohan anyway? I don't find her remotely attractive...Cheap yes. Attractive no.

Shoes for the Summer...

Nudes are part of the requirement for your Spring/Summer wardrobe. And while being pretty in nudes and pinks you can also do sexy. These stunning Fendi tulle embellished sandals will look stunning with a pair of short pastel shorts or Fendi's gorgeous bubble skirt.

Alexander McQueen Fall 2010 Collection...

His last collection was unveiled at an appointment only event in Paris. WWD reported "A solemn parade of 15 showpieces in a gilded salon made for a moving viewing". According to sources, the show was breathtakingly beautiful and filled with lots of religious references.

Friday 5th March at Paris Fashion Week...

They can't get enough...

The Angels are hot property for this season's runway shows. After Prada and Giles Deacon it has also been rumoured that Alessandra Ambrosio will walk the runway for Givenchy at today's show. She is definitely making her mark on the couture runways...

Balmain go gold...

To the voice of Prince, the models strutted down the catwalk in a flurry of gold. Gold sequins, gold fringing, gold brocade, wrong but right gold skin tight pants, black velvet jackets with stunning gold embellishment, leopard print dresses with gold stud applique detail and floor length gold dresses with thigh skimming splits. Such a luxurious feel to the line, stepping away from the tacky, OTT essence of gold and making it right again for Autumn/Winter 2010. The floor length, thigh skimming split dress may be a little much for some of us, but the gold pants are easily wearable. Dress them down with a plain top and wear with ankle boots. The tip seems to be - don't go overboard. You need to have the ability to realise when enough is enough. And if all out gold is too much try jackets with gold embellishment or dresses with gold brocade...

The Angels are out again...

Firstly walking the runway for Prada, now for Giles Deacon. Last night at his show Giles Deacon had the girls on show again, proving that they can do more than flounce around in pretty lingerie. My favourite Rosie Huntington-Whiteley was involved, along with Alessandra Ambrosio, Natasha Poly and Karolina Kurkova. These girls are definitely making a name for themselves as couture models...

Wednesday 3 March 2010

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley...

The British girl next door, that the US can't seem to get enough of. And it's obvious why. As the face of Burberry, she manages to look unimaginably stunning on every appearance. Elegant, pure and mesmerising. And it does not stop there, from her elegance for Burberry, she also manages to play it sexy as one of Victoria's Secret Angels. She is absolutely mesmerising from her light brown loosely tousled hair to her English rose skin that looks just as perfect in the Victoria's Secret lingerie as in the ads for Burberry.

Gone all girly...

The weathers that little bit warmer, the nights are lighter longer and the sun is actually visible in the sky these days. So it's time to go all girly and embrace your Spring/Summer wardrobe. And why not jump in with both feet? Go with Chanel. Go with their girly but sexy dolly girl/milkmaid look.

Think dresses with embroidery, skirts with a little bit of puff, crochet cardigans and toughen the look up with elements of black if all out girly is too much for you. Do this with a black cardigan, chunky clogs or a wide belt. Keep makeup simple, hair a little messy and accessories to a minimum. for a perfect breaking into Spring 2010 look.

Clog out of choice?

Fashionable in the 70's and when you were five years old, with their little slingbacks and bold colours, but since then clogs disappeared off the fashion radar. Shoes were about elegance, and clogs were far too chunky and clunky to be accepted. Enter Chanel and their stylish 'Milkmaid' look. In between broderie anglaise jackets with puffs at the shoulders, tweed mini's with daring splits, and lacy hold ups worn with pretty lace dresses were clogs, Chanel's footwear of choice. Extremely fitting for the feel of the line they have now become one of the most wanted items for the summer. Still as chunky as ever but with a sense of delicacy too with the applique detail on the front. Given the exclusive seal of approval by Alexa Chung, put your best foot forward in a paid of Chanel clogs this summer...
