Viva Glam with...

Lady Gaga and Cyndi Lauper. As the new faces of MAC cosmetic's Viva Glam range, Miss Gaga and Cyndi have combined their talents and lent their names to the new lipsticks that will benefit the MAC Aids Fund. Pictures of the shoot for the ad campaign are set to be revealed in magazines later this month. Posing like beautiful pin-up girls, the line reads;

"You know you've got a sexy voice. Use it! Let's talk about how to keep your love life safer, seductive and satisfying. Just between us girls!"

Zoe Saldana...

The Avatar star has been named by Max Mara as the 'face of the future' in recognition of her style and grace. What a compliment. As a result of this, Zoe was placed front row at their Milan show, dressed in a breathtaking figure hugging gold dress from their A/W 2010 collection. She will be honoured with the award later on in the year...

Max Mara

Although the tones were a lot more subdued than at the Versace show, the Max Mara show was just as show stopping. Tones may have been subdued but for them it was all about texture. Iconic silk jumpsuits that looked a lot like velvet to the far away eye, thick cashmere and camel hair coats. Corduroy and lamé pants. Traditional shapes, romantic feelings and masculine styled belted waists creating stunning silhouettes. All outfits teamed with riding boots. A gorgeous uniformed yet feminine feel to the line. A stunning and practical Autumn/Winter 2010 collection...

Versace...

Prior to the sounds of dropping bombs and bullets at the Jil Sander show, the Versace show also managed to cause a stir. Using the roaring sound of a motorcycle engine, the models graced the catwalk in a fantastic array of colours. Electric yellows, bold purples and gorgeous steely blues. Stunning evening wear with off the shoulder and backless dresses. The revealed flesh wasn't just with the evening wear, with an influx of mini-mini skirts, loud purple fur vests, dresses with zips, zipped right to the top exposing one leg. There was definitely a sense of a futuristic essence from the house of Versace, and the energy from the clothes in the show was fantastic. All hail Versace!

Jil Sanders:Tomb Raider

To the sounds of bombs dropping and Lara Croft quotes, the models paraded down the criss-cross runway. Dressed in beautiful, classic tweed tailored suits in a rainbow of colours. Green, red and blue. Gorgeous plaid jumpsuits and mid-calf flat boots. Dresses and tunics that were elegantly body skimming, cut right to the body and the audience erupting into applause at the finale as the models energetically stomped their way around the final few minutes of the show. A fantastic creative vision, think knitted/tweed/plaid Lara Croft and you're spot on...

Pradian Angels...

As promised, the casting surprise was unveiled in the shape of Alessandra Ambrosio, Miranda Kerr, Doutzen Kroes and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley. Also walking the runway was Lara Stone and the beautiful Samantha Gradoville. The packed in spectators looked on as girl after girl emerged with beehive hairdos, knee high socks worn with pointy toed shoes. Cat eye frames and straight line skirts. Decadent ruffles and vinyl like jackets. The show completed with chunky cable knit jumpers and elegant winter coats to a huge round of applause for Miuccia.

The Angels do Prada?

So with London Fashion Week coming to an end and Milan about to kick off. There is much speculation regarding Prada's models. Always up for causing a bit of a stir, officials have announced that spectators are in for a surprise at today's show. A source from the fashion house was quoted saying; "Just when you thought Prada had no more surprises left...this line up will shake the earth with surprise..". Coincidental that the Victoria's Secret girls are in Milan too? Could Alessandra Ambrosio, Miranda Kerr and Doutzen Kroes be past of the new cast?

Watch the show at 8pm (GMT) from www.Prada.com to see the secrets unveiled.

Alexander McQueen...

Today, the designer was laid to rest at a small intimate family gathering. There will be a larger memorial service later this year for friends and supporters of McQueen. The fashion how are currently focusing on the Paris show which is to be unveiled on the 9th & 10th March by invitation only...

Fashion in 3D...

Across the pond in NYC the 3D screening of the Burberry Prorsum Fall 2010 show took place. The screening allowed more than 100 million people to see the exclusive show at the same time as the exclusive guests in London's Somerset House. The magnificent 3D screenings took place in venues in New York, Paris, Tokyo, and Dubai, whilst the normal show was streamed live on their website. Burberry clad men ushered 3d screening guests into the venue in New York, shading them from the dreary drizzle. Inside the venue, the guests were provided with mini french toast, mimosas and chic 3d glasses.

Fashion shows are becoming readily available to those of us who aren't included on the real guest list. But can watching a show live behind the screen of your laptop be as thrilling as taking in the atmosphere at the actual show? Somehow, I think not. You don't get that buzz, the murmurs of the editors, the clicking of the photographers, the raw air surrounding the show. It is very useful to be able to see the shows live, but nothing will ever beat that feeling of actual being there...

Marc by Marc Jacobs...

Just a day after the Marc Jacobs show took the the runway, the Marc by Marc Jacobs line was revealed. Gorgeous khaki mixed with bright orange on knitted dresses, cardigans, jumpers and skirts. The line then moved into beautiful belted coats, worn with fur hats and skirts and bare legs. Black harem pants, pretty cream lace dresses, a-line skirts and elegant chiffon belted blouses. It was all about the belts, the infusion of orange, the classic blacks - including the most gorgeous coat ever, and smart suits for the boys.

Down she goes...

Agyness Deyn started it with her unsteady feet at Fashion for Relief and it seems catching. Second up to take a tumble was the girls during the Marc by Marc Jacobs show. Five girls including Mathilde Frachon lost their balance while out on the catwalk...and they weren't even wearing gigantic heels. Mathilde Frachon was in a pair of kitten heels!

Somewhere over the rainbow...

A room of corrugated cardboard, and Marc himself unwrapping a gigantic box to reveal his girls. Girls with stunning 'just rolled out of bed hair' and minimal make-up, each girl as beautifully dresses as the next. A mixture of grey, black, beige and cream colours. Striking tailored suits, grey jersey dresses, skirts with stunning volume, beautifully produced knitwear embellished with fur collars and fur cuffs. The main highlight for me, was the see through trench coat trimmed with fur. So luxurious. Another stunning pairing seen a gorgeous 'peasant' feeling black dress teamed with a beautiful brown fur bolero. The whole collection was absolutely stunning, from glitzy cardigans and a-line dresses to the stunning brown fur trimmed cape. An influx of dresses that had a beautiful peasant yet luxurious feeling about them. Finishing the show with his muse, Jamie Bochert dressed in a stunning floor length gown. The show was absolutely beautiful, bringing tears to the eye as the delicate jazz version of 'Somewhere Over the Rainbow' filled the room...

DVF...

Straight silhouettes infused with magnificent textures. From grey rosette jackets over a straight lined pants suit to a stunning creation of sleek dresses with astounding extras. Spotted on the catwalk, a beautifully simple creme straight sleeveless dress with fifteen inches of ruffled chiffon at the hem. Chic day skirts paired with long patterned cardigans to give the outfit that certain essence of importance. Beautifully designed layered skirts and dresses with stunning metallic embellishment, which suited the silver shiny runway. A beautifully designed collection that is perfectly suiting for Autumn/Winter 2010. DVF does it again...

'Kiss Kiss Bang Bang'...Betsey Johnson at New York Fashion Week...

A mixture of sweetness mixed with harsh black. Tutu skirts and straight line dresses. Bloomers and rompers. Metallic purples and pretty peaches. Summing up the whole of Betsey's show at New York Fashion Week. Doll like models gracing the catwalk with flowers, bows and crimped hair. Complete with inflatable hearts strewn around the catwalk, extremely fitting for Valentines Day. Making her show a spectacle, Betsey manages to maintain the idea that it is a performance. And the nicest part of it? A male model strutting up the catwalk holding a sign saying "Long live McQueen". Such a lovely, tribute.

Agyness Deyn's Unstable...

During the Help for Haiti show, in which Naomi Campbell and the rest of the girls dressed in Alexander McQueen to pay their respect to the late designer, Agyness Deyn was having trouble staying upright. Strutting down the catwalk in her Burberry heels the model took a tumble, not once but twice. Curtsying to the audience after each fall and removing her shoes for the trip back down the catwalk she tweeted about her falls after the show, saying;

"1st show of fashion week! Took a tumble! Got up! Fell again. Should have stayed down the 1st time. Twice! WTF! Ouch my knees!"

At least she didn't take it too seriously...

Alexander Wang...

Talk about making fashion week available for all - including us paupers that didn't get to attend. Not only is he streaming his show live via the internet, the show will also be projected on a huge LED screen outside the American Eagle Outfitters store on Broadway in Manhattan. Speaking about the show, he said;

“This is a New York brand, and so much of our inspiration is from here, I wanted to bring it to the people of New York and make it a part of the landscape.”

Red Dress Collection...

The Heart's Truth Red Dress Collection 2010 was revealed at New York Fashion Week last night, in support of heart disease. Heidi Klum took to the runway in a stunning red gown designed by John Galliano. Other celebrities that took part in the show for the charity included Felicity Huffman, Estelle and Jordin Sparks, wearing dresses from designers such as Marchesa, Oscar De la Renta, Rachel Roy, Zac Posen and Badgley Mischka.

L.A.M.B @ NY Fashion Week

Gwen's L.A.M.B A/W 2010 line debuted at New York Fashion Week yesterday. And it looked amazing. Wearable pieces with an edge to them. Lots of khaki, black and white - which doesn't sound entirely appealing but it worked. A mix of hot pants, harem pants, leather and load of different textures. Perfect autumn wear.

Wintour Snubs Milan Fashion Week...

The people behind Milan Fashion Week are rather put out by the fact that US Vogue editor, Anna Wintour, is cutting her trip to the event by a few days in order to make it back in time for the Oscars. But this isn't the only reason they're annoyed. Because of her trip being shortened, she's asked organisers and producers the rearrange the schedule so it fits in with her! Only the editor of Vogue could manage that...

Alexander McQueen...

A source confirmed this afternoon that the talented designer had taken his own life just weeks before London Fashion Week and the unveiling of his new collection in Paris. The Daily Mail reported;

A source at McQueen’s office this afternoon confirmed his death, saying: ‘It is a tragic loss. We are not making a comment at this time out of respect for the McQueen family.’

After leaving school at the tender age of 16 to pursue his dream in fashion, he secured himself an apprenticeship with Savile Row tailors Anderson & Sheppard. Whilst working at Savile Row he encountered a number of famous clients. After pursing this career for a while and flitting in between London and Milan, he returned full time to London to attend Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design working as a 'cutter tutor'. Here was where he was persuaded to enrol on the course due to the strength of his portfolio. His graduation collection was famously bought by Miss Isabella Blow.

Known for his controversy and lavish catwalk shows, McQueen went on to be extremely successful, named as head designer of Givenchy and became one of the youngest designers to achieve the title of 'British Designer of the Year', which subsequently he won four times.

Celebrities from the likes of Sarah Jessica Parker and Naomi Campbell were avid fans of his designs. And it is such a sad day for the fashion world. On the day of the great fashions being unveiled at Bryant Park in NYC, a great fashion house is in mourning.

Nice and Chunky...

Block heels are right on trend for this season, and these Kurt Geiger 'Gen Leopard Peach Courts' are magnificent. In the colour of the season, Nude with gold leopard applique detail they are perfect. For legs that look like they go on forever, wear the heels with bare legs and a miniskirt or dress for that high end fashion look.

Mercedes Benz Fashion Week...

Milan is done, Paris is done. Now for New York. The schedule is released, the tents are up and it all kicks off tomorrow. Oh to be there. I'm most excited to see (videos that is) DVF, Badgley Mishka, 3.1 Phillip Lim, Twinkle by Wenlan and La Perla.

"Bryant Park became the beacon of what New York fashion stands for - an indistry that's fearless, tireless, and always moving forward." Anna Wintour...

All wrapped up...

In a pretty bow. So I have a thing for bows. Really? You might ask. But there is no prettier addition to an outfit than a pretty bow, whether it's in your hair on your wrist or on your shoes. Think of yourself as a beautiful gift...only complete when the bow is added. Seen all over catwalks by Luella, Marc Jacobs and Moschino. Here are some of my favourites....

Thread Social. This gorgeous bow neck cotton dress, is the ideal addition to your wardrobe for those days when you want to look pretty but don't want to put too much effort in. Wear the dress with bare legs and sandals for the summer, or wear with white tights and flats, or dark tights and boots. An elegant streamlined shape with beautiful silk bow detail, the dress is stunning.

Marc by Marc Jacobs. Sometimes being nipped in at the waist is the perfect way to set off an outfit. Why not try adding a bow to this nipping in to make things look even prettier. The key to wearing bows is girly glamour, so don't let a little glitter or girl colours put you off if that's not your usual time. Wear it with a simple black dress and give it a bit of a twist. Which ever way you wear this belt, it will look beautiful.
Marni. It's always nice to have some thing on your arm. And there isn't anything better than this Marni gold beaded bow bracelet. Let the bracelet do the talking, and let it complete your outfit with a sense of elegance. Every girl needs that stunning bracelet, let this gorgeously detailed Marni bracelet be yours.

Thread Social. Again, for those days when you want to do pretty but you don't want to spend too much time on your look. Wear the jumper with jeans for a sweet dressed down day time look, or tuck into a skirt for a cute girly look.

Topshop. This beautiful nude coloured skirt has a gorgeous Parisienne feel to it. Simply wear with a plain top to make the skirt the feature of your outfit. With two tiers the skirt is fussy enough for you to leave your top half simple and wear with black tights and pretty shoes for that "chic-caught-in-this-dreary-city look".

Balmain. Beautifully simple yet exquisite. Balmain's crisp white bow embellished blouse is stunning, and ideal for that time when you need to dress to impress. Wear it with a structured skirt and heels to make the most of this beauty.

In any of these, you'll look good enough to unwrap.

Red Carpet Glam...

Spotted on the red carpet in Soho, NYC at a benefit soiree, Olivia Palermo looks every inch the glamour puss. With dark hues running through her usually blond hair and an emerald green silk jacket to compliment her new hair shade, she looks beautiful. Teaming her green jacket with a black and white printed dress, she really does look spectacular. And shows that she can go from goddess of nude straight to goddess of green. She is undoubtedly a major fashion icon, and it seems that she can do no wrong. From her on trend style to her perfectly styled hair, she is flawless.

Mulberry...

So I might be a little late watching their show. But better late than never. I absolutely adored the colours, the hair, the clothes, the setting. Everything about it was sweet and innocent in magnificent ice cream colours. Pretty pinks mixed with beautiful blues and gorgeous greens is definitely a key trend for Spring/Summer 2010. Watch the mouth watering show here...

Kelly Cutrone

My absolute idol. A woman that manages her personal life by living literally in the middle of her work life. After watching the documentary (if you can call it that?) profiling her life, I think she is an amazing woman. Fond of her before that, I was naive to the amount of work that goes into producing the shows for fashion week. She's a woman that has gained the respect of everybody, the people who work under her, the people she works for. She is an iconic woman, with guts and a direct mind of her own. No wonder People's Revolution is a high-flyer. With a woman as strong minded as her driving it, there was no doubt it was going to take off.

What's the cost of that front row seat...

The designers have such power when it comes to that infamous front row seating situation. Marc Jacobs has virtually banned certain people from his shows. But how much do designers pay to have their perfect front row audience?

It has been reported that the likes of Rihanna, Beyonce and Chloe Sevigny could set a designer back by anything from $60,000 to $100,000. While the likes of Leighton Meester, Blake Lively and Clive Owen could cost anywhere inbetween $10,000 to $50,000. And that's just for the A & B list celebrities! Even the C-listers can hitch a price of up to $25,000. It's no surprise that the likes of the Jersey Shore cast or bad girl Lindsay Lohan are uninvited.

I suppose it's a small price to pay considering the attention said celebrities and 'iconic style icons' bring to the designers show.

Taylor Momsen & New Look.

From the Upper East Side to New Look? Now there's a shocking pairing. The wannabe rock chick is to be the face of the UK brand New Look. So am I right to assume New Look is soon to be full to the brim of leather jackets, unflattering t-shirt dresses, over the knee socks and too much black eye make-up? No thank you.

Bye Bye NJ...

It's been reported that Diane Von Furstenburg's creative director has jumped ship. The DVF Autumn/Winter 2010 line will be his last with the company, so that he can continue with his own, highly regarded line that he launched in 2006. They are to be completely separated though, although Nathan Jenden won't be continuing with his position as creative director at DVF, DVF is sticking close by and investing in his brand.

Colour with Pastels

Summer days, pastel colours. Wonderful. There are a whole host of shapes, styles and shades for you to choose from...

Like this Paul Smith sweetheart bow bubble dress. In powder blue with an applique bow as the central feature, the dress is faultless and is exactly what those summer days need. For those colder days, wear with a pretty cardigan and white tights or with a t-shirt underneath. Whichever way you wear it, the dress will look simply beautiful.

Tarina Tarantino

Iconic. Delicate. Beautiful. If it's accessories you are after then her designs should be your first calling. Each piece as beautiful as the next. From delicate, pretty bows for your hair to Alice in Wonderland themed jewels and more, she really is iconic and is definitely one to watch. Keep your eyes peeled for some of her pieces on famous faces and her fabulous launch of her new beauty collection.

That classic one...

Every girl needs a dress that makes her feel sophisticated. But sometimes, too much sophistication is well, too much. Too strict, too forced. However, this amazing dress by Jaeger London is the perfect sophistication dress that should belong in your wardrobe. A little more updated than the classic LBD, in a dusty pink colour with three quarter length sleeves and detailing on the skirting, it is perfect for those days when only sophistication will do...

All the dresses...

The Grammys. A big night for every artist, a big night for every designer. The important dresses are on the important people. There were some magnificent creations and some not so magnificent. So who was wearing what...

A bizarre combination of two dresses, unsuccessfully attached together and creating one mis-matched, tacky, bewildering dress. All above neckline Jennifer Lopez is Jennifer Lopez. Luxurious curls and dramatic eyes. And from neck down she's returning to her 'J.Lo' persona with her fishing net like dress combined with what looks like a gold lamé dress from American Apparel. She can do better.

Office wear made chic. Jennifer Hudson in a Victoria Beckham design was destined to go places. It shows off her amazing curves by nipping her in at the waist and accentuating her beautiful hourglass figure. It may well be plain and simple, but the fact of the matter is that she looks classic.

A perfect Grammy award winning dress. A white floor length gown with delicately draping on the hips and intricate ruffle detailing is sure to be a winner on the night. Her Elie Saab dress is perfect, making Rihanna look every inch of the goddess that she is.

She never fails to astound. In a Stephane Rolland number Beyoncé wins the award. Hugging her in all the right places and in the colour of the season, she was definitely the Queen of the night. Her subdued makeup and sleek hair completes her elegant look wonderfully.

Collette Dinnigan for M&S...

Famous for her glorious sequins, exquisite sense of glam, the Australian designer is launching her own lingerie collection 'Collette' for M&S in March 2010. Speaking of her line for the brand, she said; "The collection combines luxury fabrics, impeccable cuts and my signature romantic feel and palette." Finally. A luxurious underwear collection that doesn't break the bank and will make us feel like the Blair Waldorf of our time. I can sense the collection is going to be a very big hit and with underwear as outerwear big for this season, there's an extra reason to indulge in some pretty lingerie...The collection is available in M&S stores from March 2010.

Fashion and 2010...

Over the weekend, the magnificent Marc Jacobs has announced that his fashion show will be streamed live to his website on February 15th. While giving fashion fans everywhere a virtual front seat, he is one of many designers to jump on the streaming ship. With the likes of Marc Jacobs, Louis Vuitton and Alexander McQueen the virtual front row is the new hottest seat in the house...

Stay out of the showers...

A classic trench coat is a wardrobe must for every year. And this year a favourite of mine is Topshop's 'Premium Bound Seam Trench Coat'. Black bound seams against the grey makes the coat an iconic wardrobe piece. Beautifully belted so you can decide how fitting or loose to wear it which helps the coat transform from a daytime coat to an evening coat. Nip it in at the waist for those chilly nights out and leave a little looser for a wonderful daytime look. It does seem a little pricey at £185 but it's versatile design makes it worth every penny, and with those April showers you will relish in your new purchase...

Dolly Girl...

Think pinks, think nudes, think peach blush. Think sweetness and light, and you have Spring's ideal look down to a T. Gone are the days of khol eyeliner (leave that to Taylor Momsen), push that to the bottom of your makeup bag and invest in some pretty pinks, peaches and rose tints to be on trend for Spring 2010. Benefit should be your first stop, their irresistible products will have you glowing in seconds. For the complete look, add soft curls, ballet buns or pretty headbands and you will be picture perfect...
